Embry Rucker Community Shelter

With COVID, I’ve been a little lax with my donations to the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston, VA.

Ice Pop Donation

This weekend, however, I was able to gather up a case of soda, a bottle of mayonnaise, pickles, and 48 vanilla and orange ice cream pops. That’s right, for some reason, the store that delivers my groceries keeps on sending the wrong ice cream pops so last count there were 48 ice pops.

Instead of trying to return them to the store, I quickly decided to donate the whole bunch of ice pops to the local community shelter. It’s super hot and everyone enjoys an ice pop on a hot day, right?

Details on the Center

The below photograph shows the outside of the community shelter which contains 70-beds residential. This community shelter, also, provides many services. It not only helps clients to overcome homelessness but offers help to the unemployed and underemployed. If you are living in an unsheltered location, then you can stop in for a hot meal, use their laundry machines, or take a shower.

Ending Notes on the Embry Rucker Community Shelter

The Cornerstone Organization, which oversees the Embry Rucker Community Center, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary on Thursday, September 30th, 2021.

Please contact them if you wish to give a cash donation, purchase gift cards, donate other needed items or your old car. They also have wish lists online of things they frequently use at the center.

At this time, I want to thank the many volunteers who help make things better for those who need a helping hand.

I, also, hope everyone enjoys those 48 ice pops!

  2. William,
Thank you for your comment on how to make a better grilled cheese sandwich. However, when I checked out your web site, it told how to fry cod fish. Did I get the right blog? Anyway, have a wonderful day.
