So, I’ve decided to call today’s blog Defrosting Deep-Freeze since our temperatures are to rise to 50 degrees today. For the last several days, we were in a deep-freeze with cold temperatures, slippery sidewalks, frozen fingers and toes, and kind of a humbug attitude.
As the temperatures rise, it’s time to get back into the swing of holiday spirit.
Surviving the Deep-Freeze
Well, there are a variety of things I’ve done to survive the deep-freeze. I turned the house temperature up one degree. That makes a big difference for me. I’ve also grabbed all my “snuggle blankets” to use both upstairs and down. Hot herb teas taste good on icy days, too.
Also, out came the rock salt to melt the ice on the sidewalk. Once, I went out to my car to start it to keep the battery going. Don’t forget to put the rock salt back into the house because if it gets wet, it turns into a block of hard salt.
After the Deep-Freeze
Now, for the best part, what to do after the deep-freeze ends. I decided to add the photograph of the large pink poinsettia my neighbor gave me. It’s quite lovely and sunny. It was placed on my dining room table to keep me in good spirits during the deep freeze.
Now, I enjoy it as I go about my day.
I’m thinking of getting out of the house doing some shopping and picking up a newspaper to read the food section.

Ending Notes
I’ve, also, been a bit late with my holiday cards, so I am thinking I need to go and buy some nicer ones. I think I sent out only three holiday cards this year.
So, let’s see what I get done with the out of the deep-freeze day.
As for Everyone Else, Happy Day and Stay Warm!
