Tires Plus/Road Hazards

Car Oil Change

It’s been a long time since my last car oil change, so I made an appointment to get that done. I decided to wait for my car and get a cup of coffee. For my morning coffee, I carefully crossed the busy roadway near the shop to get to a takeout cup.

Today while enjoying that coffee in the waiting area, some displays caught my eye which I thought were both educational and interesting.

Road Hazards Jar

Road Hazards

In fact, you are probably wondering what today’s blog photograph is all about. It shows a large jar of something labeled “Road Hazards”.

I found it interesting that this car/tire repair shop kept some of the objects they took out of tires. It is absolutely mind boggling the things that can puncture a tire.

The definition of road hazards is anything from gravel, snow, ice, standing water, or things in the road. Needless to say, a lot of things in the road can puncture a tire. Of course, some road hazards are unavoidable.

Frankly, I’m not sure what all of the items in the Road Hazards jar are, but there are are definitely some pointed sharp metal objects, nails and screws.

This jar contains a bunch of objects which gave at least one driver a flat tire.

Phone/Tablet Recharging Station

In the auto repair shop waiting area there is a “car battery” phone/tablet recharging station. If a customer has a phone which is low on power, they can plug it in.

My understanding of this item, is that it is not a real car battery and has several types of plugins attached to it.

I thought this phone charger in the shape of car battery is a helpful item to place in their waiting room.

Unfortunately, while I was there, someone walked off with one of the service desk’s phone chargers. They were looking for it but it was gone.

Ending Notes on Car Oil Change Blog

My car oil was changed and I also put in a new battery. My old battery was tested and a printout of why it needs to be replaced was attached to my invoice. I like that I get a printout.

For now, my car is good to go, for a while yet.

Sadly, there is only one repair person working on the cars, so an appointment is needed. I wonder where have all the auto repair persons gone?

Thank You Chuck for allowing me to take photographs and to blog about the car repair/tire shop today.
