During the recent holiday season, I received this lovely Blue Heron Pillow as a gift from my good neighbors.
It is actually, a computer generated drawing my artistic neighbor did of a Great Blue Heron. The pillow has printing on both sides, an invisible zipper opening, and measures approximately 13 x 13 inches. It has a tag on it stating PX Pixel and a polyester pillow insert is included. She sells these pillows and other items on a fine art online sales site.
According to my neighbor, Great Blue Herons are found in the bayous of Louisiana and other southern states.
My neighbor once saw a Great Blue Heron on a log and had to get a photograph of it. As an artist, she noted the bird’s feathers reflected in the sun with iridescent shades of dark blue to grey purplish. When the bird unfolded its feathers in take off, it was just magnificent. She has captured this memory in her artwork. Apparently, Great Blue Herons hunt in the bayous waters for fish, crustaceans of even small snakes.
She remembers, the bayous waters being magical places teeming with a variety of wildlife, plants and, of course, alligators. If visiting Louisiana, there are, also, many boat tours one can take to see the bayous areas up close.

My neighbor is also working on a children’s book which was inspired by her childhood memories of Louisiana.
