Berries and Cream Layer Cake–what says more about warmer days and trips to the fresh farmer’s markets than that? Right now, all berries are plentiful and, of course, refreshing. A true baker submitted the photograph for today’s blog. She is always seeking out new recipes to try out on her relatives, good friends and neighbors. Don’t you find it more personal when you are invited to a home where the desserts are delicious and homemade?
The Berries and Cream Layer Cake she uses is actually a recipe from Kardea Brown of the Food Network fame. Click on the link for the full recipe and how to make it instructions. This is the first time Farmhouse Magic Blog has included linked a recipe to an outside site. Even for a non technical person, such as myself, this worked out quite nicely and I hope you enjoy all the Food Network’s recipes.
More Cake Please . . .
This show stopping cake works for many celebrations and friendly get-togethers. The base is a sponge cake layered first with a wash of orange liqueur syrup, and a vanilla bean Chantilly cream.
Unfortunately, I have never made this cake but checking the recipe, found it uses cake flour not all-purpose flour. The orange Liqueur Syrup requires a 1/4 cup of orange flavored liquor. The Vanilla Bean Chantilly Cream is made with unflavored gelatin, and a vanilla bean with the seeds scraped out. Of course, this cake is easily decorated with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. The berries are, also, placed between the layers.
Ending Notes
We all know, a homemade cake is something that makes a celebration special to everyone at the event. And, this cake is no exception.
A Special Thank You to C. for sharing her photograph and recipe of her Berries and Cream Layer Cake.
Happy Berry Baking everyone!
