Today we were looking for a different coffee shop so we headed to Bayou Bakery in Arlington.
Our good friends, who are originally from the New Orleans area, suggested the Bayou Bakery. They told us to try the beignets, a New Orleans’ favorite.
Upon entering the bakery, the first thing we saw was a glass display case full of mouth-watering scones, croissants, and other items.
We ordered two coffees and an order of beignets consisting of three beignets. Inside a friendly cashier took our order.
Bayou Baker’s Outdoor Patio
The weather was lovely, so we took our order out to the patio to enjoy our bakery treat.
The outdoor patio was very clean had had bright blue tables with black chairs. There was also a few well-maintained planters scattered about.
Apparently, this bakery also serves Bayou BLTs, Muff-A-Lottas, and Doberge Cake as advertised on the outside banner.
Bayou Bakery’s Beignets
The beignets were freshly made and still hot covered with a dusting of powered sugar.
I thought they tasted like the fresh yummy donuts my mother would make. She used a yeast dough recipe and then fried her donuts.
My mom would tear apart those old white/brown two layer refrigerator bags using only the clean bottom bag. The brown paper bag would soak up any extra grease.
We usually ate her donuts before they were even cool.
Bayou Bakery’s coffee and beignets were delicious and reminded me of home cooking.
In particular the piping hot coffee went well with the beignets.
Ending Notes on the Bayou Bakery Blog
Having coffee and beignets was a relaxing way to spend some time on Sunday morning.
We would definitely stop in this bakery again.
Perhaps next time we could try one of those delicious looking New Orleans sandwiches for lunch?
A Big Thank you to the friendly Cashier and Manager (?) of Bayou Bakery for allowing us to blog and take photographs of the restaurant.
