Basset Hound Rescue

This weekend, I spent an hour or so at the Basset Hound Rescue organization’s fundraiser. Every year it draws a big crowd along with Basset hound owners. It was a gorgeous day to be outside, so many people came out to support it.

The Rumble – Basset Hound Rescue

I love Basset hounds as they are adorable in every way. Also, Basset hound owners are friendly and will stop to admire your Basset Hound, (even if you are walking it for charity and do not own it).

When I arrived at the park a bit before opening, I immediately went to the “Rent” a Basset Hound of adoptable hounds. Last year I noticed this booth and wanted to rent a hound but ran out of time to do so.

Fortunately, no one had rented Lindsay, their adoptable Basset hound, so I was first to “rent” her out and go for a walk.

Boy, everyone fell all over Lindsay saying Hello and giving her good girl pats. She wore a little red jacket stating she needs to be adopted. However, as good luck would have it, Lindsay already had two prospective families interested in adopting her.

I returned her to the checkout booth; people were already waiting in line for a turn walking Lindsay. Looks like she is a good ambassador for the organization as I loved walking her around the booths.

Dog Races and Contests

A large area was set up the dog races and various contests. I believed they had a pumpkin (pie) eating contest, dress up contest, and various Basset races.

Ending Notes on Basset Hound Rescue Blog

So, on ending this blog I had a great time attending the Basset Hound Rescue festival. I hope the group makes lots of money to keep taking care of the rescue animals.

I even talked to Hound Radio, an online radio station which plays music 24/7 and also has stories on dogs and other animals. Actually, they interviewed me for one of their programs.

It really made my day to be able to take Lindsay for a walk around the grounds. Glad to help as they say.

Note to Readers: There are no photographs posted on today’s blog which were taken at the Basset House Rescue event. The top photo is that of the flowers of a dogwood tree.
