Banana Wine

Ripe Bananas Ripe Bananas

Today I learned about banana wine which I have never heard of before.

It makes sense because the banana is a very inexpensive fruit to buy plus it is naturally very sweet. You can also add other fruits to the bananas when you make the wine.

Bananas are also are available in any grocery store at any time of the year.

Apparently you use very ripe but not black bananas to make the wine.  I like to save my black bananas for banana bread.

When you serve the wine, you swish the bottle to get a little of the banana sediment in the bottom of your glass.

The question for Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers is have your ever made banana wine or tasted it?

Update on Banana Wine – 5-31-2010 – I had a comment that banana wine tastes like white wine and really didn’t have too much of a banana flavor.

The banana wine was also topped off with ginger ale to give it a little fizz.

A Special Thank You to Trail Diva who gave me the idea of Banana Wine for Today’s Blog.
