Balloon Animals

Balloon Animals

Shopping at one of my favorite garden stores I noted a couple of balloon animals. How cute I thought! Then, I looked closer to discover the pink and blue balloon animals were actually candles made to look like dog shaped balloons. It brought back memories.

I thought about years ago, my little friend and I often would attend library presentations and fairs with children’s entertainers. Sometimes the person would have balloon skills and tell jokes to entertain the kids. Birthday parties and other celebrations are always better with colorful balloons, right?

Wow, balloon skills are great to master since you can make all kinds of shapes such as dogs, birds, dinosaurs, plus more. At parties, I remember seeing quite a few dog shapes, crowns and swords.

A small balloon pump is recommended, especially, for those wanting to become professionals in this area. For children’s shows in my area, it looks like they charge $150 to $200 and up for their time and talent, so it’s not a bad gig.

More about Balloonery

Ok, I’m thinking balloonery is probably not a real word, but I noticed one person using it to advertise his skills online.

Online there are various sites to buy the twisting balloons. There are also videos showing how to create each figure.

Balloon Animals and No More

I remember attending a few shows of one such local performer. He wore a large silly hat in his ad and, I believer, he told children’s jokes plus made balloon animals. He made and gave out several balloon animals and figures at each show. He really was quite popular.

So, I remember my friend wanted a balloon animal, too. But as things go, he didn’t get one of the balloon creations.

After the show, I remember walking by him and asking him if he could make one for my friend. He told me that the balloons were expensive and that he couldn’t do it but, of course, he was very nice about it.

OK, I thought, the show is over and he probably wants to leave. I noted he wasn’t as friendly as he was during the show.

Life goes on and children’s interests change.
