Today’ blog shows photographs some of the wildlife and vegetation on Bald Head Island, NC.
Unfortunately, I never visited the area but it looks unspoiled and very peaceful. So, today’s blog is going to be a very short one.
I believe the below water photograph show some windmill palm trees near the edge of the water but I am not totally sure on that point.
General Information
Bald Head is a small village located on the east side of the Cape Fear River in North Carolina. It has a population of only 269.
According to the island’s web site, vacationers can explore the island, creeks, and maritime forest. There are also programs offered by the Bald Head Island Conservatory.
It was home to a British fort and hospital during the Revolutionary war.
Old Baldy is the nickname of the oldest standing lighthouse on the island.
Modes of transportation include electric golf carts, bicycles or walking. However, you need a valid drivers license to operate the golf carts on the island.
I love this turtle who is out for a swim.
Ending Notes on Bald Head Island
I enjoyed seeing these nature photographs full of island wildlife. The area is apparently home to many birds, animals, and nature.
Below is a flock of white egrets perches on a tree. Egrets are elegant-looking large herons with stark-white feathers. The birds are found in Asia, Africa, Americas, and Southern Europe. They like tropical and warmer temperatures.
Egrets build nests in tree colonies next to wetlands or a water source. They eat small fish, frogs, grasshoppers, etc.
I’m not sure what type of bird is on the tree twig below. Perhaps he is waiting for his lunch to swim by. Happy hunting!
A Big Thank You to J. for allowing me to use her Photographs and the Idea for today’s blog.
