This weekend, we visited the Auld Shebeen Pub in Fairfax. I guess the official name of the place is the Auld Shebeen Irish Pub and Restaurant. We strolled a bit in downtown Fairfax looking for a restaurant to dine at. It was a pleasant afternoon not our usual hot and sticky summer weather. Fairfax has a good variety of restaurants, so it all depends on what you are in the mood for. We noted the outside breakfast brunch menu for this place and immediately went in.
All in all, the place looks like an Irish pub with lots of warm wood tones.
Then we were seated and Patrick, our server, came by to get our drink order. He was also training a new worker, and she came with him. Patrick was nice to talk to and efficient. He, also, said he liked working here because it isn’t a chain type of establishment.
Our Meal
We all ordered meals from the breakfast brunch menu. I had a regular breakfast, one companion had the traditional Irish breakfast, and the third party had the Irish Cheddar omelet.
The traditional Irish breakfast included thick sliced bacon, eggs, tomato slice, sausage, and toast.
Everyone enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and our meal at this Irish pub. My companion really like the Irish Cheddar cheese which was added to the omelet.
The place offers a selection of seasonal both craft beers and Irish related cocktails.
So, what exactly is a Butter Beer Cocktail you ask from the drink menu? I was curious about that one too.
Typically, online research shows a butter beer cocktail is a Harry Potter-inspired drink. It combines cream soda, butterscotch schnapps and is topped with whipped cream. Sometimes butterscotch sauce is drizzled over the top of the whipped cream. However, I am not sure how it is made at this particular bar.
Really, I guess I’m probably the only person who hasn’t read the series of Harry Potter books, so butter beer did not pop out at me.

However, if you visit this Irish pub during the week, they always seem to have something going on. It looks like they have everything from live tradition Irish Music, Trivia games plus cellar events.
