Last year in our garden we grew one Armenian white cucumber plant.
This year, one of the seeds from last year’s plant came up so now we have some white or pale green cucumbers in our garden.
My Aunt always called plants that came up without planting them a “volunteer” plant.
Armenian Cucumbers Growing on Tomato Cage Armenian White CucumberThe Armenian cucumber comes from the middle east and is a heirloom variety.
If grown on a trellis the cucumber grows long.
If grown on the ground, the cucumber grows curved.
Well this sounds a little silly, but last year we didn’t eat any of the Armenian cucumbers because we couldn’t figure out if we planted them or if it was some odd seed that just grew in our garden.
We never thought to check out the planting tag on the plant.
At first I thought the seed company just mixed some seeds up.

A Farmhouse Magic Blog Hello to the USA.
This week, I sliced up one Armenian cucumber and we ate it for dinner.
It was very crispy. To me it tastes like a cross between a cucumber and a zucchini squash.
I’m glad I finally tried this heirloom crop.
Arch.,
Thanks for the comment, “little changes make the biggest changes”. That’s probably true in some cases, let me think about that one. Enjoy and take care.
