Today I was helping out on the set of the musical video.
Our technical video director decided for the best lighting it would be prudent to film in direct sunlight.
Two Panasonic GH3 cameras were positioned on tripods.
One camera was filming the action straight ahead and the other was at a slight angle.
It’s always best to use the same type of camera for ease in editing the final film.
The cameras were focused on the microphone stand which was placed in the yard.
The singer with his guitar was positioned standing in front of the microphone.
There was also a laptop computer on a side table playing the musical score to the song.
Panasonic GH3 Camera Set Up White Background SmokeTo create dramatic motion, a smoke bomb with a delayed fuse was lite.
The video director wanted to have background motion, “like walking through the fire”.
The white and orange smoke bomb was positioned to the side of the singer.
When the orange part of the smoke bomb started, it was pretty dramatic. It probably drew some of the attention away from the singer.
A better positioning of the smoke bomb would have been directly behind the singer.
Another idea would be to set off more than one smoke bomb at a time.
Today’s filming was just a trial video session.
Until we film again, Farmhouse Magic Blog is hoping that all your Hollywood “orange smoke bomb” dreams come true.
