Use Paper Straws
I am beginning to see more and more places introduce eco-friendly paper straws.
Paper straws are good for the environment since they are plant based and break down quickly. Unfortunately, plastic straws get into our oceans and clog our landfills. Plastic straws are not recyclable and stay around forever.
We should all rally for restaurants and other places which serve food, to switch to paper straws.
Around town, I’ve seen two places replace their plastic straws with paper. Let’s hope more follow their great example.
Wooden Coffee StirrersFebruary 2, 2020, Update – Bamboo Coffee Stirrers
Today I noticed one of my favorite coffee places is now using bamboo coffee stirrers instead of the small plastic red straws they previously gave out.
Wonderful idea in that this place serves hot coffee all day long.
Think of all those small plastic straws that will no longer be clogging up our rivers and oceans.
A small change that will have a big impact on our environment.
Better yet, nix the straws and just drink right out of the glass. I wonder how eco friendly it is to make paper straws?
Dear Trail Diva,
Thanks for logging on with your comment on paper straws. It seems that we are so conditioned to using a straw when we eat out, we just automatically reach for one. Of course, you’re right the best decision is to use no straw at all. Enjoy your day!
