It seems that many fast-food places are offering more inspired pickle food items on their menus, so I decided to give my readers a quick Pickle Tuna Salad recipe.
Why the Interest in Pickles?
I love Kosher Dill Pickles and always have a jar of them in my refrigerator. However, I am not the only one who loves pickles. I noticed that some fast-food restaurants are featuring more and more pickle theme food items and social media persons are all for sampling the new offerings.
For instance, Popeyes recently offered a new pickle inspired menu with the following:
- Pickle Chicken Sandwich which had a pickle-flavor gaze over the fried chicken
- Fried Pickles, sometimes seen at county fairs
- Pickles Chilled Lemonade, with ice cubes
- Pickles Frozen Lemonade
Sonic Burger Drive In offers a Pickle Slush which has a green color, Big Dill Cheeseburger, and Pickle Tots. Wawa even offers customers a Dill Pickle Ranch sauce.
In all honesty, I’m not sure how long these pickle menu items will last, so please don’t quote me if they are no longer available in your local stores.
Interestingly, I remember one runner telling me of running a race and that the rest stations gave them a small glass of pickle juice. I, believe, it was to replenish the salt they lose while running.
However, today I noted a tuna pickle salad recipe which sounded tasty and is quick and easy to make.

Pickle Tuna Salad
In this recipe, the fresh cucumbers and celery add a delightful crunch to the salad.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of canned drained Tuna
- 1 cup of chopped Mini Cucumbers
- 1/2 cup of Kosher Dill Pickles chopped
- 1/2 cup of Calorie Reduced Mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup of Fresh Dill finely chopped, optional
- 1/2 rib of diced Celery
- 1 teaspoon of Whole Grain Mustard
- Crackers, Bread, Lettuce or Wraps for serving
Directions
In a large bowl combine the tuna, cucumbers, Kosher Dill pickles, mayonnaise, fresh dill, celery and mustard, stir until combined.
Serve immediately with crackers, bread, lettuce or wraps.
Ending Notes on Pickle Tuna Salad
In ending today’s blog, I never thought of using pickle juice in lemonade. However, I use the pickle juice frequently when I make deviled eggs, potato salad or macaroni salad. A tablespoon or two of pickle juices gives these items a great flavor boost.
Also, I’m for using food products up and not wasting them, so these are all great uses for pickle juice one normally tosses out.
So, enjoy the day and have a pickle.
