Happy Thanksgiving 2023, to all my Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers. Hope your day is happy one with lots to be thankful for.
I, actually, started today’s meal earlier in the week when I baked my pumpkin nut roll and sugar cookies. Even then, I took a few short cuts to get my baking done quickly. I used a store package of sugar cookie mix to make the cookies. That way, they were made in a snap Only change I made was to add a few drops of orange flavoring to the cookie dough. It gives the finished cookies a nice flavor.
However, pumpkin rolls take more time. I, actually, shelled my walnuts by hand thinking I would save a little money. But, I really didn’t get that many on walnuts for what I paid for them.
Table Setting for Thanksgiving, 2023
I used a moss green tablecloth with a yellow, white and red table runner in the center. I set the table with water and wine glasses. The glass pumpkin centerpiece with small fairy lights was at the head of the table. One glass pumpkin is elevated on a rattan stand. I, also used one tall and two smaller LED candles. I added a bunch of fall looking faux flowers and leaves to the centerpiece. It’s a little hard to see, but the whole area is lite with fairy lights. However, this would be more noticeable for an evening Thanksgiving meal.
This was the first time I used my knife carving set which I purchase secondhand. Yes, it was sharp and the turkey slices were easily cut.
Thanksgiving Menu
You are probably thinking, what did I have on the menu for today. So, it is listed below:
- Baked Turkey, approximately 14 pounds
- Fresh Brussel Sprouts cooked in water
- Homemade Fresh Cranberry Sauce made with Organic Cranberries, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice and Brown Sugar
- Stovetop Stuffing made with onions, celery and imported butter
- Relish Dish of Carrots and Celery
- Peach Wine served with the meal
- Deviled Eggs Flavored with a Little Pickle Juice
- Orange, Red Beet, and Baby Spinach Leaf Salad with Sugar Free Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing
- Dessert Pumpkin Rolls
- Sugar Cookies
- Decaf Coffee
Salad is made with orange slices, cucumbers and cooked red beets with a sugar free raspberry vinaigrette poured over the top.
I had previously frozen the cookies and pumpkin dessert roll, so I took them out of the freezer a little before we sat down to eat. I added a punch of candy corn over the dessert layers and also a small dish of it on the top layer.
To get this attractive serving look, I put together two clear-glass cake stands. One is slightly smaller than the other one.
Ending Notes on Thanksgiving 2023 Blog
I always try to change things up a bit for my meal. This year, I didn’t serve too many high carbs foods. There were no rolls, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, or gravy. And, frankly, I really didn’t miss the carbs. I, also opted for some peach wine to serve with the meal.
Everything turned out great and we enjoyed our meal. I’ve got lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
Additional Note
This is the first time I used this secondhand carving set. The knife was sharp and made clean cuts. Great secondhand bargain and the set priced at only $10 dollars!
So, Wishing all my Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers a Great Thanksgiving Day 2023!
