Recently we went to a Summer Music Theatre performance of the Jersey Boys. I loved the play, the story line, the great singing and the actors. All in all, well done. Of course, video or audio recording of this performance by any means is prohibited. But, as a blogger, I can talk about my experience.
Summer Music Theatre – Jersey Boys
Basically, this is the musical version of the ups and down of Frankie Valli’s life and his career with the Four Seasons. All the songs were well known, and the audience was asked not to sing along with the tunes.
There was a lot about his life I didn’t know about. Of course, some of the songs reflected what was going on and his dealings with the other band members.
It was a little bit of ride to go to the Shenandoah Theatre from where I live. But for the most part it was a nice drive until we were hit with a down pouring of rain. We even found a nice parking spot. We purchased our seats late in the game, but they turned out to be good seats.
There was a 15 minute intermission after the second act. During the intermission, we talked to a grandmother who brought along her granddaughter to see the play. The grandmother had already seen the Jersey Boy’s New York Broadway production. We also talked to a gentleman in a tropical print shirt sitting next to us. He, at one time, tried out for a summer production theatre. He was surprised when he was offered a variety of parts in the play.

The thing about summer music theatre performances is that they go way back to Micky and Judy type of dancing and singing their way from humble beginnings to stardom.
In fact, you never know who will turn up on Broadway or the big Hollywood screen. Good luck to the cast of Jersey Boys and “break a leg”. Hopefully, one day I can say I saw them when they were in a summer music theater production at Shenandoah Conservatory.
