Easter Decorating Ideas & Pysanky Kit

Today I started putting out my Easter decorations.

Grape vine printed place mats were used as a base.  Baskets of brown and white plastic eggs were added along with three white porcelain bunnies.

The large brown bunny in the below photograph looks like he is made from chocolate.   The bunny, however, is actually made from ceramics and is holding a colorful egg from the basket.

The photograph below shows a grouping of speckled faux bird eggs.

A yellow chick and two white rabbits are in the background.

Notice the new brightly painted yellow and orange “flower” design egg I recently purchased in a second hand store.

Easter Wreath Repair

The below photograph shows me doing a quick grape vine wreath repair with white glue.  A plastic egg came loose during storage.

With using what I had, I also wired a carrot that fell off with a metal bread twist tie.

I received the white grape vine wreath as a gift and added the bunnies to it.

The bunnies are made out of white felt and blanket stitched together with green and pink embroidery floss.

I believe I stuffed the felt rabbits with a few cotton balls.

Hot glue guns can also be used to make wreath repairs.

However, I think wooden eggs hold better when glued with white glue.

Ukrainian Pysanky Egg Decorating Kit

The below photograph shows a Ukrainian Pysanky egg decorating kit.  It takes a lot of time, patience and a steady hand to decorate the egg.

One uses a stylus called a kistka to apply melted beeswax.  Then the egg is dipped in various colored dyes.

Interestingly, the beautifully decorated Ukrainian Easter eggs have religious meanings symbolized in the designs.

For example, a ribbon or belt around the egg means the endless line of eternity.  Ladders suggest prayers and butterflies the symbol of the resurrection.

I actually tried my hand at making a few pysanky eggs.  It is a very involved process placing wax on the eggs and then carefully scratching the wax off.  After each was scraping, the eggs are given a different dye bath.

Unfortunately, it’s not the craft for me but I’m glad I tried something new.

I hope my Readers enjoyed my Easter day decorating ideas.

Have a great spring!
