Sharing a Bike

Sharing a bike is a rather new concept here in Reston and other large cities.  This company has what is known as a “bikesharing” program.  Biking is often a quick mode of city transportation.

In bike sharing, you pick up a bike and then drop it off any any bike docking station.  You don’t even have to return it to the same area you picked it up at unless you want to.

This above photograph shows a bicycle holding rack with neat red bicycles ready for use.

This large sign gives information about rates for bike sharing.  Everything is done automatically.

I like the fact the rates are clearly marked and if you don’t read English you can still understand the small bike icons for bike sharing fees.

The bikes have a classic built and a wide seat.  They are also rain resistant with a front basket to hold packages.  The tires are also puncture resistant.

This bike sharing rack is conveniently located near the Silver Line Metro station and is also very close to a Reston bike path.

I imagine all the bikes are checked out on nice days.

Bike sharing is a great way to save time, money, see a new area of town, or to get some fresh air and exercise.

Now I have to get out my tennis shoes and go for a bike ride.
