While out running my errands, I noted a long line forming in front of a new store selling Bubble Tea.
Of course, being curious about the new place, I asked a couple of people in the line about the store. Apparently, it is a very popular beverage shop in Taiwan and, yes, it does sell bubble tea.
What is Bubble Tea?
I guess some of my Readers are wondering what bubble tea is. Actually, bubble tea comes in many different varieties. It often consists of green tea, black tea, oolong tea or sometimes white tea. It also can be made with or without milk.
There are many popular flavors such as mango, coffee, taro, and coconut. New flavors include ice cream, pizza, toast, sushi, and ramen.
Tapioca pearls or boba are the most common ingredient to make the chewy bubbles. Sometimes the pearls are brown or black from the brown sugar. Unlike the tapioca my mom made, the tapioca is now the size of pearls. Thus, the name.
According to my research, its popularity spread across East and Southeast Asia rather quickly. In fact, April 30th is National Bubble Tea Day in Taiwan.

Ending Notes
Chicka San Chen is the name of the new place and is it located in the Fair Lakes Shopping Center.
I checked their website and menu. Some of their offerings are Bubble Milk Tea, Bubble Volcano, Ding Dong Oolong Tea Latte, Creamy Lemon Tart, Classic Black Tea with Mousse, Fruit Tea, etc.
They, also, offer an Orange Series of Perrier with Orange, Light Tea with Orange, and a Fruit Gathering drink. That one looks like it contains chunks of citrus fruit in it.
It all sounds refreshing on this hot and humid day.
Well, looks like I am going to try one of their offerings soon. Of course, I need to wait until the line to get in the store goes down.

Note: This is the cute balloon display in front of the store. I actually spoke to the two persons working with the balloons.
