Snow and Sleet

Snow and Sleet

OK, we got every bit of the snow and sleet storm they predicted. Let’s see, there is about 6 to 10 inches of snow on the ground. Now, the snow has turned to a freezing sleet rain. Gosh, it’s cold out today. I haven’t ventured far only to the front door to take a few photographs for my Readers.

Later in the week the temperatures will drop to “bone chilling” coldness. However, I put on a pot of fresh coffee for anyone that needs to warm up.

What did I do today?

So, got up, ate breakfast, and then went back to sleep till about 12:30 p.m. When it snows like this, our front road is almost closed, thus, no traffic. It’s very, very quiet and the only thing to do is enjoy the white snow and peaceful feeling.

We are awaiting the snowplow, but we might have to wait awhile for that one. In our area, the snowplow does the main roads first and then the secondary roads. Thinking about it, we might wait three or more days for that plow to come by. In fact, we saw a plow drive by, but he wasn’t plowing our neighborhood. Most likely, the schools will also be shut down for a while.

Yesterday, we tried to attend church but there wasn’t a parking spot, so we ended up heading home and having dinner of stuffed peppers with ground meat and cauliflower.

Blogging Break Time – I just put in St. Louis pork spareribs in the oven to slow bake. I have some coleslaw to serve with them, easy on the mayo. I noted in the last grocery store I went into before the storm that people had purchase almost all of the fresh vegetables. Regular carrots and celery, all gone. Lots of meat remained. Eggs and milk pretty picked through. Also, the pasta section looked pretty sparce.

I guess what everyone now is worrying about is if the electric power goes out. My house is all electric, so I really want to keep the power on to stay warm. I also have a wood burning fireplace with lots of wood. Perhaps we will burn that tonight. However, our fireplace only keeps the family room warm and toasty.

Snow and Sleet Ending Notes

In conclusion, this is the first day of that big snowstorm. I’ve been reading, blogging, and making meals so I’m keeping busy. For lunch I made everyone cheese and ham omelets.

But tomorrow’s another day.

And so things go, I hope you are doing well in this snowstorm.
