Blue52 Cafe

Blue52 Cafe

So, today’s blog is all about the Blue52 Cafe, which is scheduled to open on April 7, 2025, in Dagupan, Philippines.

While having a pastry at one of my favorite cafes, I met Terrence, who plans to open the Blue52 Cafe jointly with his mother.

Originally Terrence was going to enlist in the US Air Force. However, during a strange twist of faith prior to signing the paperwork, he learned that a relative had left him a piece of property in the Philippines. Apparently, it is a great corner location nearby a college with lots of foot traffic. As a way, to judge the market, he previously held a pop-up cafe event. Terrence took this as a sign leading him to follow a different path in life.

Today I enjoyed a fresh raspberry and cream pastry.

Opening a cafe is Terrence’s dream. As a way to earn money to fund the cafe, he works in our local Paris Baguette Cafe. He, also, wants to learn about making delicious pastries, so naturally, this is the place to go.

Paris Baguette’s attention to detail is what I notice most often. Today Terrence is working with special markers to fill in any marks or nicks in the cafe’s wooden chairs. I’ve never seen this done before, so I was impressed.

Blue52 – The Loneliest Whale

Surprisingly, the Blue52 Cafe is named after a whale that caught the attention of experts when they heard its unique whale calls. The whale was vocalizing at 52 hertz, giving the whale the nickname of Blue 52.

The whale was first heard back in 1989. Scientists think the whale is solitary living in the North Pacific. They believe it is a male and possibly a hybrid between a fin and blue whale. The Blue 52 Hertz Whale broadcasts at 50 and 52 hertz which is too low for humans to hear but it too high for other whales. Thus, the whale has been dubbed “the loneliest whale” being unable to communicate with other whales. However, after my online research, the whale has never been found; only heard. Experts wonder if the whale is even still alive. Films, books and music have been written about mysterious Blue 52 whale.

Ending Notes

Once opened, I think the Blue52 Cafe will be a great place to meet friends, have conversation, and enjoy those fresh pastries and coffee.

Terrence has shown grit, a can-do attitude, and enthusiasm, by following his dream and opening the cafe.

It was nice meeting you Terrence and good luck with your new venture. If I am ever in Dagupan, I’ll stop by.
