Really, I love the autumn months and want to share some fall fun decorating ideas for your home.
First of all, I don’t spend a lot of money on decorations, but I want things to look expensive and classy.
My solution is to shop secondhand stores and sales for great deals. In the photograph below, I placed my secondhand Pottery Barn table runner down the center of the table. The large white faux pumpkin came from the Pottery Barn, also, on sale. The smaller white pumpkin was actually unpainted. I first painted it orange and then changed it to white. I think the current paint color is buttermilk. The cotton garland was placed around the rattan cake stand. I then added my tent sale floral sprigs and bent them upwards around the cake stand. Also, from the tent sale are the two brownish looking pears near the front. I really like them because they are heavy and will stand up on their ends. Boy, good thing I didn’t put away those red holly berries, because they worked nicely in this arrangement. Lastly, I scattered colorful silk leaves around the arrangement.
All in all, I think it looks like fresh clippings and pumpkins harvested from the countryside.
Coffee Table & Fall Fun Decorations
OK, second fall fun decorating project was the downstairs coffee table. If you recall, we just refreshed the silk flower floral arrangement down there.
Again, the flower vase was purchased secondhand. Also, the white pumpkin came from the Pottery Barn on sale. Then we have my wooden hand painted boy girl and boy dish purchased secondhand. OK, I splurged a bit and bought a new dark wooden plate stand from the craft store to display the plate on. Then there is my pride and joy, my 18th Century, Dackermann pewter pan found in a church resale shop.
Fireplace Mantel Fall Decorations
So, I’m keeping with the fall and pumpkin theme throughout the house. The mantel is looking cozy, like I want to start a fire in it right now. Notice, I have the logs already to go.
OK, truth be told, I have a hard time getting the fire going. But, not to worry, I can still drink hot cocoa and eat cookies in front of a flameless fireplace while I make out my list to Santa.
Steps in Creating the Mantel Display
First, I had to dust and wipe everything down. I removed all the candles and stored them in the laundry room. I added both white and orange faux pumpkins and a few fall floral sprigs. The elevated pumpkin on the left is on a clear glass cake stand. The elevated pumpkin on the right is on a large vase that was turned over.
Lastly, I added a large painting done in bright orange, yellow and green. Yes, those fluffy socks are green. Guess who painted this self-portrait?
Decorating the fireplace mantel is always the hardest part of my home decorations. Humm. . . I’m thinking I need more fall leaves on that mantel but will keep my Readers posted on any other additions.
Ending Notes on Fall Fun Decorating
What do my Readers think? Have I achieved the classy and expensive looking fall decorating theme?
My gal pal told me my look is “eclectic,” and I think I’ll take that compliment.
For now, thanks for reading Farmhouse Magic Blog and I hope I have given you some great ideas for fall decorating!
