For the last couple of years, I’ve wanted to say goodby tree roots. Let me explain, in my front yard there are two large tree roots in my garden bed. Every time I dig around the plants, I run into these two large roots.
At last, I inspired the right person to take a look at those roots and to pull them out. So, how was it done, keep reading.
Goodby Tree Roots using a Mattock Digging Tool
The person’s tool of choice for removing tree roots is a mattock with a wooden handle. Fortunately, several years ago, I picked up an almost new one at a yard sale. It was super cheap, and I believe it was $5 or less.
Never did I think, this secondhand tool would become so useful in my yard.
Mattocks are great for loosening the soil, cutting through shrubs, or digging up roots. This tool made quick work of removing those two large roots.
The roots were already dead, so it came down to digging them up and pulling them out of the bed.
Ending Notes
Years ago, I planted a flowing plant over on these roots. This plant remained small while the other same plants grew and grew. Now, I’m thinking that the plant’s growth was stunted due to this root.
So, it will be nice to see if this plant’s growth will now begin.
After the root was removed, we repositioned the flowering plant and added some soil and mulch around the plant. Then the plant was given a good watering.
I’ll keep my Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers posted as to how it grows this summer.
Happy Day and Goodby Tree Root!
