I came across this unusual necklace the other day while doing laundry which turns out to be a clever video tool.
The necklace accidently entered the laundry bin so, of course, I took it out. Looking it over, I began to think what it could be used for.
What is it? A Clever Video Tool in Hiding
It’s a nice looking necklace with a brown chain and a curious looking open rectangular piece on the end.
I returned it to the rightful video/producer owner really unsure if it were decorative or had a particular use.
My first guess about this object is that it would be some sort of video view finder but my guess was incorrect.
However, the video producer said this clever video tool is a “genius invention” because it solves a constant issue film makers encounter while making films.
Clever Video Tool
So the answer is that this object’s edge is used tighten and untighten mounting screws on video tripods. Online I see there are many tools of this type often made into keyrings or actual keys.
This particular tool conveniently hangs around your neck so it is always there to help tighten those legs on tripods which holds your cameras.
There is nothing worse while filming, if a tripod leg starts to slip. Not only does it wreck your video footage but your camera can eventually end up on the floor. When the scene changes, which is often the case when filming, then the tripod tools comes out. Readjusting the camera tripods is a frequent occurrence while filming.
Some people also use coins or metal washers for this purpose but with this video tool around your neck, you always are ready for the next scene.
