This evening Farmhouse Magic Blog’s video technical director put a pink bakery box on the table, Georgetown Cupcake Treats.
I have heard a lot about Georgetown Cupcake, so I was curious to try out a few different flavors.
Brief History of Georgetown Cupcake
Georgetown Cupcake opened on Valentine’s Day in 2008 in, of course, Georgetown. The store is run by two sisters who believe in using the best ingredients and baking their cupcakes daily in the store.
They bake cupcakes with delicious sounding names like Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, European Sweet Cream and Key Lime Cheesecake to name a few.
Although the cupcakes were securely packed in a pink box with a cupcake insert, they were jostled and fell to the side.
Georgetown Cupcake, according to the internet, bakes 25,000 cupcake a day and has over 300 employees across the county.
They also have Georgetown Cupcake stores in Boston, Los Angeles, New York (Soho), and Atlanta.
Taste Test
After sampling my cupcake, it definitely has a lot of delicious flavor. The icings also tasted better than the average bakery. I had a taste of a cream cheese icing which was really good.
Our technical director said he waited two hours in line to get the cupcakes. Due to COVID precautions, apparently they were only allowing one group in the store at a time or one credit card. For example, a whole family of five could go in or only one person. It all depends on who was in line.
Six cupcakes were priced about $23.00 with tax.
At one time, there was a reality television show about the two sisters called “DC Cupcakes”. The program had a three year run and their last season was in 2013.
The cupcakes taste good when the box is empty.
Williams Sonoma also apparently carries a frosting and cupcake mix in their store developed from a Georgetown Cupcake recipe. I’ll have to check it out next time I’m there.
A Georgetown Cupcake was a great way to end my day. It’s all about building a better cupcake.
Happy Desserts!
